Bright purple. Dark berry and floral scents are enlivened by a peppery element and a suggestion of smoky minerals. Coats the palate with sweet, smoke-accented boysenberry and cherry compote flavors; conveys very good energy for its depth. Harmonious tannins shape a long, broad finish that leaves blue fruit and peppery spice notes behind. There's a lot going on here for the money, which has long been the case with this bottling. This wine was aged in stainless steel tanks.
