The grapes for this wine come from a proprietary vineyard, 15 Ha (37 acres), in La Veguilla area, in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja at an altitude of 575 m (1,890ft) with a South-Southeast exposure. The soils are clay-limestone composition with abundance of small rounded stones on the surface. The vines are 20-35 years-old, head-trained in goblet and on trellis, and yields 29 Hl/ Ha. Painstakingly hand-harvested in boxes, during the third week of October, 2005, of only perfectly healthy, ripe grapes (only 8-10% of the bunches from the vineyard were chosen) with additional selection made in the winery using a sorting table. Destemmed by hand with a rigorous inspection of every grape. Cold prefermentative maceration at 6º C. for 6 days and then macerated with the skins for 14 days.
