Vajra's Barbera d'Alba is a blend of six vineyards. Five are planted in the white/blue Tortonian soils of Barolo commune and one is in the commune of Sino just outside the Barolo zone on the east side of the Serralunga commune. Here the Helvetian soils give the Barbera a wonderful dark and graphite note. This is a wonderful Barbera, loaded with fruit and crisp acidity, but due to longer macerations it has great complexity. Aged in Slavonian cask but a small percentage will see French oak in ripe, powerful vintages like 2000, 2007 and 2009.
