The 2012 Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a bit less structured than it often is, but also more flamboyant and open, which will undoubtedly please readers seeking immediate gratification. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, spice, rose petal and mint add nuance to a supple, giving Barbera built on forward fruit. This is one of the more accessible young Superiores I have tasted here in some time. Best of all, the 2012 won't require any cellaring, as this wine often does.
