2.2 Ha holdings in Bricco delle Viole vineyard, planted in 1949. A very special single vineyard with a perfect exposure. In the early spring, this vineyard is first filled with small violets (viole) showing its exceptional exposure. Soils are Tortonian calcareous marl, very poor, with a high percentage of limestone. The ridge (Bricco) is exposed and sits at 470 meters. The vineyard holds very little heat and the poor soils slow down the ripening to allow for harvest dates 10 to 14 days later than in more protected sites in Barolo. This is Barbera made with a Barolo mentality, fermented on the skins for 32 days, aged 32 months in large Slavonian cask. An incredible expression of old vine Barbera. Production: 5,200 bottles.
