This wine is elegant, suave and sophisticated, with notes of red cherries, darker currants and a whiff of forest floor and spring flowers in a medium-bodied, extremely pure, refreshing and distinctive style.
The 2009 Mencia cuvee, Mosteiro, comes from old Mencia vineyards planted between 1920 and 1935. This is grown on south-facing hillsides of decomposed black slate and quartz at a whopping 1,800-foot elevation. Aged in new French oak for 12 months and then moved to two-year-old barrels.
