A blend of organic grapes, the 2009 Marques de Gelida Brut Reserva Ecologico is composed of 35% Macabeo, 30% Xarel-lo, 25% Parellada and 10% Chardonnay, and is packaged in an environmentally friendly green bottle. The wine offers hints of white currants, wheat thins, grapefruit and orange zest. Medium-bodied, broader and richer than its siblings, it spends three and a half years in bottle prior to being released. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years.
Of Marques de Gelida's 196 Ha of vineyards approximately 50 Ha are certified organic. While the entire estate is farmed organic only these vineyards can produce cava that is labeled "Produced from Certified Organic Wine Grapes". The wine comes from the first pressing of the grapes, it's fermented in temprature controlled stainless steel tanks and finished Method Champoise.
