This is what great Barbera d'Asti is all about. Dark cherry, black raspberry and plum fruits hung on a firm and mouthwatering frame of acidity with notes of spice and black top soil. Barbera d'Asti Ca' di Pian makes you want to eat! While most Barberas we see in the US market are from high yielding plantings in lesser areas, Barbera Ca' di Pian comes from the beautiful south facing hillside vineyard Ca' di Pian. Aged for 12 months in used French oak and then in the bottle for another six months prior to release the wine has time to age and soften, the fruit begins to integrate with the brisk backbone of acidity and yields a soft and vibrant red that is just delicious. Green harvesting is employed to reduce yield to 1.5 kilos per vine, concentrating the fruit and balancing the acidity.
