Clerico's Barbera d'Alba Tre Vigne is produced from three estate vineyards in the Monforte commune of the Barolo area. Even the Barbera from Monforte has more structure than other communes. Domenico puts the Barbera vines through the same rigorous viticulture practices as he puts his prized Nebbiolo vineyards through. The result is an extraordinary Barbera with great depth and grip. Eventhough this Barbera spends 12 to 16 months in mostly new French oak barrels, it isn't a sweet, soft, or, juicy wine. It possesses quite powerful fruit tannins and is a firm Barbera with great strength. Production is less than 700 cases a year.
