From a selection of 80 years old vineyards from the zone of La Consulta and Vista Flores (Valle de Uco). Harvested in the first week of April, the first quality selection occurs in the vineyard with only the best clusters taken, then a second selection by "triage", in the winery, the grapes are vinified at 30º - 32º Celsius in small stainless steel vats. Fermentation-maceration lasts four weeks. The wine then is transferred into small French oak where it undergoes malolactic fermentation, and where it matures up to 18 months before bottling without filtration. This is a very robust and powerful Malbec that doesn't give up balance, the careful selection of fruit from old vines and blending from different regions combines dark color, powerful body and great natural acidity. Today this is still THE BEST MALBEC RESERVE from Argentina for the money. Altos Reserve still garners very high press at or below $25 retail.
